Some days feel heavy in a way you can’t easily explain. Depression can settle in slowly — a loss of energy, numbness, or a sense that joy and motivation have quietly slipped away. Tasks that once felt simple may now feel overwhelming, and even rest doesn’t seem to refill your tank. None of this means you’re failing — it’s a sign you’ve been carrying too much for too long.

Through approaches like psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, we’ll explore what’s underneath ]the depression, and help your mind and body create new, steadier patterns.

You might have racing thoughts, a tense body, or a sense that you always have to be “on.” You might feel on edge, alert for what could go wrong, even when nothing obvious is happening. You might have racing thoughts, a tense body, or a sense that you always have to be “on.” You might feel on edge, alert for what could go wrong, even when nothing obvious is happening. That isn’t weakness or overreaction — it’s your nervous system trying to protect you in the only way it knows how. Together, we’ll work to help your body and mind feel safer and more grounded, using psychotherapy and somatic approaches to create new patterns so you can move through the world with more calm, clarity, and confidence.

You’ve probably been carrying more than anyone can see. Maybe you’ve pushed through the hard moments, stayed strong for everyone else, and kept your life moving — but inside, something still feels heavy or unfinished. Maybe anxiety hits out of nowhere. You’ve probably been carrying more than anyone can see. Maybe you’ve pushed through the hard moments, stayed strong for everyone else, and kept your life moving — but inside, something still feels heavy or unfinished. Maybe anxiety hits out of nowhere. Maybe your body feels tense or numb. Maybe you’re exhausted from holding it all together and still can’t shake the past. If any of this feels familiar, you’re not broken — you’re responding exactly the way a nervous system shaped by pain and overwhelm learns to survive.

Trauma doesn’t just live in your memories — it lives in your body. And healing asks more of us than simply “talking it through.” In our work together, we’ll use EMDR to gently untangle distressing memories and help your brain process what it couldn’t at the time. We’ll also bring the body into the room through somatic approaches like Trauma Sensitive Yoga — a slow, grounded way to reconnect with yourself, notice sensations safely, and rebuild a sense of comfort and belonging inside your own skin.

We will work together step by step, to create space for your nervous system to soften, for your voice to come forward, and for you to move from surviving to truly living.

Trauma-Informed Yoga

What is Trauma Informed Yoga?

When you experience trauma, it might be hard to pinpoint what you’re feeling. It’s also hard for your body and brain to comprehend everything. As a result, your muscles tense up and your brain might go into overdrive because you’re constantly trying to protect yourself. Eventually, you might shut down — or lash out. Yoga-informed yoga is based on a particular understanding of trauma, one that emphasizes its impact on the entire mind-body system, as opposed to particular mental states (e.g., troubling memories) viewed in isolation from the body. “Trauma,” Bessel van der Kolk explains, “is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on mind, brain, and body.” The  purpose  of this type of yoga is to help you become more aware of what’s going on in your body. Once you tap into that, you can work on releasing built-up emotions, stress and tension.

Counseling & Play Therapy

Children, Adolescents, & Parenting

Play therapy and counseling can be beneficial to children and adolescents who are looking for emotional and behavioral support.

The curative powers inherent in play are used in many ways. As a therapist, I strategically utilize play therapy to help children express what is troubling them when they do not have the verbal language to express their thoughts and feelings. In play therapy, toys are like the child's words and play is the child's language. Through play,  the child learn more adaptive behaviors when she learns  emotional or social skills. Play therapy may also be used to promote cognitive development and provide insight about and resolution of inner conflicts or dysfunctional thinking in the child.
